For the Fall 2020 semester, SMU Lifelong Learning classes will be conducted as fully online offerings, due to Covid-19 concerns. We all look forward to reuniting students and instructors on campus, hopefully in the Winter 2021 semester.
Culture et conversation : French Conversation courses in Dallas
Two courses offered, Fall 2020
- Culture et conversation: Beginning French Conversation, Level I
- Meets remotely on Monday evenings
- September 14-November 30, 2020
- Culture et conversation: Intermediate French Conversation
- Meets remotely on Thursday evenings
- September 17-December 10, 2020
Each course will be comprised of 12 sessions, each class lasting 90 minutes (6:00-7:30 pm). All classes will be conducted live by the instructor, via remote access for all students. These classes are highly interactive, with a fun and dynamic group!

Small class size
The small class size provides opportunities for individual attention and participation with plenty of time for exchange. Maximum enrollment is 16 students.
Guided discussions on French language and culture focus on a different topic each week. Prior sessions have explored the Languedoc-Roussillon and Berry regions of France, the Valentine connection, linguistic peculiarities, and gastronomic specialties.
Future topics may include Aliénor of Aquitaine, Queen of France and Queen of England; Hénri II of France and Hénri II of England; Aquitaine, Bordeaux, the Loire Valley, and more!
