Foreign Affair: Lamplighter to offer French
Posted by The Lamplighter School of Dallas on 11/18/16.
For the first time, Lamplighter is offering French and Japanese as Night Light classes. There will be three French classes offered and students in Pre-K through second grade will be eligible. There will be two Japanese classes offered, and students in Pre-K through fourth grade are eligible. Both classes are taught experientially, incorporating songs, games, and activities that will increase students’ vocabulary and understanding of the languages.
The French class is taught by Cynthia Wildridge who holds diplomas in the French language from the French Ministry of Education, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Paris. On sabbatical in the Loire Valley, she conceived the bilingual series The Tales of Bun E. Boniface®, “Your child’s first step in French . . . through story, art, and song.”
Japanese will be taught by Yukiko Yoshida, who is a graduate of NYU with a degree in Psychology and a teacher’s certificate in music. Yukiko has taught classes at Tamagawa International Preschool and Azabu Music Together, in Tokyo, Japan, and has been a freelance interpreter for the Governor of West Virginia, the Health Minister of Malaysia, and the U.S. White House Staff visiting Japan in 1992.
